The Lednice-Valtice Area is a territory hemmed in between the Dyje and Pálava Rivers and the border with Austria. Valtice and Lednice are its two centres, known especially for their chateaus and parks. There is a nature park between Lednice and Valtice, which is the biggest example of a composed scenery not only within Europe, but also in the whole world. The complex of the Lednice-Valtice Area was placed on the List of the World Cultural and Natural Heritage of UNESCO in 1996.
The Lednice-Valtice Area is full of monuments, but it is known among nature lovers as well. It is particularly the complex of Lednice Ponds that attracts to visit. A part of the area is also an important archaeological site – Pohansko. Gourmets, on the other hand, come for the excellent wines from Valtice, Hlohovec or Lednice. The Lednice-Valtice Area is becoming a more and more popular place for having an active holiday. Anybody who likes hiking, cyclotourism or horse-riding will come into their own, and lovers of fishing swear by the local fishing districts, too.
